Obituary

Ms. Myrtle L. Jones, 64, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Homegoing Service: Saturday, August 24, 2024; Viewing: 10:00a.m. - 11:00a.m.; Funeral: 11:00a.m. Services will be held at Adell McDuffie Memorial Chapel ~ 1209 Deputy Odell McDuffie St. ~ Cleveland, Texas 77327. Final Resting Place: Sunday, August 25, 2024 @ 1:00p.m. ~ Ferriday Cemetery ~ Ferriday, Louisiana.

Myrtle Lee (Angel) Jones was born on March 28, 1960  in Ferriday, Louisiana to the union of Sam and Barbara Jones.  Angel was reared by Elijah and Willie Calhoun. Angel received Christ at an early age and was baptized.  Angel lived the majority of her adult life in Ferriday, Louisiana.  Angel worked many years in service to others as a Certified Nurse Aide and used her sewing skills at Kelly Kids for many years.  Angel moved to Houston to be closer to family.  Angel entered into eternal rest following a brief illness.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Barbara and Sam Jones, Sr., a sister, Loretta Williams, her maternal grandparents Myrtle and Willie Williams, and her paternal grandparents Esau and Alice Jones.

Mourning her departure, but cherishing precious memories are: her son, Bunion Davis Boyd, III her daughter, Sedalia Boyd; her six grandchildren (Kiara, Brooklynn, Bradley, Elijah, Jasmine and Kyson Boyd); a great granddaughter (Anissa Glenn); her brothers, Sam Jones, Jr. (Fairfield, California), Esaw Jones (Kathy) (Conroe, Texas), Willie Jones (Johnnie Helen) (Cleveland, Texas); Raymond Calhoun (Pat) (Ferriday, Louisiana); her sisters, Patricia Thompson (Houston, Texas); Roberta Calhoun (Ferriday, Louisiana); and Mary Luckett (Houston, Texas); and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends, who loved her dearly, she will be greatly missed.

We would like to say a special thank you and commend the staff of Conroe Health Care Center and Devotional Hospice on the care provided to our loved one.
